Charging speed is determined by the lower of what the car can accept and what the charger can deliver. In most cases, it is the car that limits the charging power, especially when the battery is cold or the outside temperature is low. If you start charging in the Eviny Bilkraft app, you can easily monitor the charging speed on your phone.

❄️ Precondition the battery if possible

In cold weather, or when the battery is cold, your car cannot accept charging at the same speed. This applies even if the charger is capable of delivering high power. If your car supports battery preconditioning before fast charging, it can significantly reduce charging time.

Most cars charge fastest between 5% and 80%

Charging speed varies from one model to another. However, most cars are able to accept the highest charging power when the battery level is between 5% and 80%. That means charging is often faster during this part of the session than when the battery is nearly full.

🔌 Charging power may be lower when power is shared

At some charging stations, the available power is shared between two vehicles if both are charging at the same time. If another charger is available, it may be worth choosing that one instead.

⚠️ Sometimes the charger may have a technical issue

In some cases, a technical issue may prevent the charger from delivering full power. For example, a charger that normally provides up to 200 kW may occasionally be limited to 175 kW. This usually only affects peak power and may not have a major impact on the overall charging session.
